I love this photo in my blog header that John took of water in a creek splashing onto some rocks. That was during our holiday in Sydney. We walked a very long way and finally found this ordinary looking river. We were rather disappointed as we had expected a spectacular waterfall. John, however, was very eager to step onto the slippery rocks to observe the water. Afterall, we don’t see this in Singapore. We kept cautioning him, fearing for his safety.
I thank God for protecting him and giving him the curiosity and inspiration to take this photo which captured, for a brief moment, the fluidness of this liquid that is extremely essential to life. It’s amazing to see God’s creation so up close and personal. Not only does it sustain life, it refreshes, rejuvenates and cleanses.
And Jesus Himself promises to give us living water so we will never thirst again. I pray to remember to keep going to Jesus to drink of this living water daily.
Genesis 1:20
Then God said, “Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens.”
Psalm 23:2
He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.
Psalm 1:3
He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.
Ephesians 5:25-27
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.
John 4:10, 13-14
Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”
Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”
